Athletic trainers are health care providers highly trained in injury prevention, examination, diagnosis, and treatment/rehabilitation in order to return their patients to their sport/everyday activities quickly and safely. They are also highly trained to act confidently in immediate and emergency care. Certification requires a minimum of a Master’s degree in Athletic Training, passage of the Board of Certification’s national exam, and maintenance of certification requirements.
